Why are dental examinations important?
Regular dental examinations are very important and help you to maintain oral health. Tooth decay can, if left untreated, cause the total loss of a tooth within a year.
Our examination is a systematic process during which we will investigate many facets of your oral and systemic health in order to identify potential issues or concerns and develop a uniquely customized treatment plan that is catered towards maximizing your oral health while meeting your goals and expectations.

Why is professional teeth cleaning important?
The main goal of professional teeth cleaning is to prevent or delay the progression of periodontal diseases and to make your teeth whiter. Gum disease, a prevalent form of periodontal disease, is the primary cause of tooth loss in adults over age 40. Untreated periodontal diseases have been link to serious medical complications such as heart attacks and strokes. That's why it is very important to schedule visits every 6 months.

It's not just about your teeth.
What is periodontal therapy?
Periodontal therapy is the treatment for periodontal diseases, which are infections of the structures around the teeth. This includes the gums, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone. In the earliest stage of periodontal disease — gingivitis — the infection affects the gums. In more severe forms of the disease, all of the tissues are involved. Lack to treatment can lead to tooth loss and can contribute to serious medical conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, blood clots and strokes.
What we can do.
We have extensive experience treating patients requiring periodontal care. This care may involve deep scaling (cleaning), gingival (gum) surgery and the placement of dental implants. We augment this treatment with a revolutionary take home system called PerioProtect.
What causes periodontal disease?
Periodontal disease is caused by bacteria in dental plaque. Plaque is the sticky substance that forms on your teeth soon after you have brushed. In an effort to get rid of the bacteria, the cells of your immune system release substances that inflame and damage the gums, periodontal ligament or alveolar bone.

We specialize in oral surgeries such as root canal therapy. Root canal therapy saves teeth that would otherwise be extracted.
What is root canal therapy?
Root canal therapy, or more precisely, Endodontic treatment, is a procedure that is used to remove infected or diseased pulp tissue from the interior of a tooth. The pulp contains blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue and creates the surrounding hard tissues of the tooth during development. The narrow channels beneath the pulp chamber in the inner part of the tooth are hollowed out and cleaned and the roots are filled with a flexible sealant.
What are the underlying causes?
Inflammation or infection of the pulp can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. In addition, an injury to a tooth may cause pulp damage even if the tooth has no visible chips or cracks.
What are the symptoms?
Signs to look for include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, tenderness to touch and chewing, discoloration of the tooth, and swelling, drainage and tenderness in the lymph nodes as well as nearby bone and gingival tissues.
Extractions done quickly and painlessly.
Why would I need my tooth extracted?
A tooth becomes a candidate for extraction when:
Wisdom teeth, also called third molars, are often extracted either before or after they come in. They commonly come in during the late teens or early 20s. They need to be removed if they are decayed or cause pain. Some wisdom teeth are blocked by other teeth or may not have enough room to come in completely. This can irritate the gum, causing pain and swelling. In this case, the tooth must be removed.
